back to school

Hello Silver Ridge Families,

I hope you have all been enjoying your summer.  I wanted to share some information to help you plan for the fall and upcoming beginning of the school year.

School Supplies

This year we are asking for a $20 donation for school supplies instead of publishing long lists of expensive supplies.  The requested supply list for all students is below:

  • Backpack

  • Masks

  • Water bottle

  • Headphones (4th/5th graders may choose to use earbuds instead)

If you are not able to supply these items for your children, please contact the school so that we can provide you additional support.  The $20.00 donations can be paid by check to the school, exact cash to the office or online through the school website.

Back to School Night

Save the Date! This year we would like to invite families and students into our school prior to the first day, to welcome you back, allow you an opportunity to see the classrooms and building and meet your child’s teacher. Our Back to School Night will be Tuesday, August 31st 5:00-6:30.  We will send more information and details soon.

recoveryCovid Impact On Schools

We plan to open schools full time for all students and largely the function of the school will be similar to a typical year. There are several resources on our district's website that give more details, but here is a quick summary of things you can expect:
  • We will continue our efforts to keep kids safe by cleaning the building and kids hands as often as possible.

  • Masks will be worn by staff and students when inside school.

  • We will have PE, Music and Library classes and we will be allowed to move throughout the building between spaces more freely.

  • We will do everything we can to social distance 3ft throughout the day and 6ft at lunch. The 6ft distance at lunch will often not be possible due to resources and space but we will do everything we can to keep kids apart.

  •  Due to space, our school will have lunch in the classrooms, and recess will be intentional groupings of grades to reduce exposure.

After the first 2 weeks of school, we will begin allowing parents into the building as volunteers.  Volunteers will need to set up their volunteering in advance with the classroom teachers, have completed their volunteer paperwork, come for a specific purpose and stay a definitive/planned amount of time.  We will start with volunteers that are serving an academic function, and limit social visits as we build our systems and capacity around guests in the building.

We have onsite before and after school childcare through Champions.  Additionally, Champions has a preschool program here. The following link will provide you more information:

I hope you are having a chance to enjoy the sunshine with your family this summer.  We are working hard to get the school ready for you and we look forward to seeing you soon!

You Are Awesome,

Elizabeth Forbes
